Baghmara, April 22: Social activist, Greneth Sangma, frustrated over the poor network connectivity of three telecos (Jio, Airtel, BSNL), has written to the South Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, who is also the Chairman of the Consumer Forum over allegations of unfair trade practices over poor connectivity in the entire district
“I am compelled to bring to your notice the persistent issues with network services provided by Airtel, Jio, and Cellone. Despite timely payment of monthly recharge fees, we face subpar network quality, including frequent disruptions and slow data speeds, frequent call drops and inability to reconnect, and poor coverage in advertised areas,” said Sangma in his complaint submitted on Tuesday.
Sangma asserted that their actions constitute unfair trade practices and cheating as they are collecting monthly recharge fees but failing to provide promised quality and advertising undelivered services. “We request the companies to enhance network quality, refund affected customers and consider compensation for inconvenience and financial loss. The companies’ failure breaches consumer rights. We urge prompt action against them,” said the activist.
Through his complaint Greneth sought the improvement of network service and connectivity, the refund of recharge fees to affected consumers and the imposition of penalties on the companies for unfair trade practices.
