SHILLONG, June 30: The West Jaintia Hills district administration has submitted the report of the fact-finding committee on the death of Pynche Bareh, a pregnant woman from East Jaintia Hills’ Jalaphet, at the Maternity and Child Hospital (MCH) in Jowai on June 4.
West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner Abhinav Kumar Singh told The Shillong Times on Monday that the report by the four-member panel was submitted to the state government under the confidentiality clause.
“We have sent the report to the DHS (MI). Now, the government will be taking appropriate action based on this report,” he said.
He said he received information that the DHS (MI) forwarded the report to Joram Beda, the Commissioner-Secretary in charge of Health.
Earlier, the Health Department promised action based on the findings of the fact-finding committee investigating the incident.
The department said it is cooperating with the probe panel and has submitted all necessary documents to the inquiry team.
On June 4, Singh constituted the four-member panel to probe the incident, consisting of Additional Deputy Commissioner, B. Blah, along with a team of doctors comprising the District Medical Health Officer, a gynaecologist, and a paediatrician.
