
BSF man robs jewellery store using toy gun
New Delhi, July 23: A BSF constable, who joined the force a month ago, was arrested for robbing a Delhi jewellery store with a toy gun in broad daylight, after allegedly getting inspired by crime shows following losses in online gambling, an official said on Wednesday. The accused, identified as Gaurav Yadav (22), had completed his training in May 2025 after he enrolled in the BSF in 2023, the official added. The incident occurred on June 19 at a jewellery store in Farsh Bazar, when a man entered the store brandishing what appeared to be a pistol and stole four gold bracelets before fleeing on foot. According to the police, Yadav allegedly developed a gambling addiction, incurred significant losses, and plotted the robbery after watching crime shows. (PTI)
UP schools receive bomb threat emails
Agra/Meerut/Kanpur, July 23: Private schools in Agra, Meerut and Kanpur received bomb threats through email on Wednesday, prompting extensive searches by bomb disposal and dog squads, but nothing has been found yet, police said. The Cyber Cell officials have been asked to investigate the matter and find out the source of the threat mails and its senders, it said. “Intelligence units have also been pressed into the task to trace the location and source of the emails,” police added. Over a year ago, about 10 schools received the bomb threats emails which later turned to be hoaxes. (PTI)
