SHILLONG, July 29: The Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF), Meghalaya Police, has asked all house owners and vehicle owners to remain vigilant and report any suspected misuse of their property or vehicles for drug trafficking or related activities.
In a statement here, Superintendent of Police, ANTF, Giri Prasad, has warned that under Section 25 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, it is a punishable offence to knowingly permit one’s premises or vehicles to be used for drug trafficking. The penalty for such an offence is equivalent to the punishment for drug trafficking itself. In this regard, the SP has urged owners renting out their houses or vehicles to immediately notify the nearest police station or the State ANTF if there is any suspicion of involvement in drug-related activities.
The ANTF has assured that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
Meanwhile, the general public has been asked to reach the ANTF at 8787808749.
