Boundary pillar put up on Assam border

SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep A’chik National Movement (HANM) has erected a signboard and a boundary pillar in Cachar district of Assam.
The HANM led by its president Lamphrang Kharbani went to Malidor, East Jaintia Hills, which is on the Assam-Meghalaya border.
In a statement, the HANM said it is growing weary of the frequent encroachment by Assam Government. The ‘signboard’ and ‘boundary pillar’ were erected at a distance of 500 meter from Meghalaya.
Kharbani also slammed the government for its inability to resolve the long-standing inter-state border issue.
The signboard stated, “Welcome to Meghalaya from Rilang till Kupli is Khasiland, by HAMN Land Protection Cell”.
The statement from HANM also said there was no disruption from the district administration of Cachar, Assam, at the time of erecting the signboard and boundary pillar the organisation.
