SHILLONG, Nov 8: PHE Minister Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar has asked officials carrying out the construction of the Shillong-Dawki road to exercise caution so as to ensure no pipeline supplying water to the city is broken in the process.
His remarks come as construction work for the said road is under way at Upper Shillong area where the water supply pipelines are laid.
In the last few months, the pipelines have been damaged on some occasions affecting the supply of water to select parts of the city.
“During the construction of the road, shifting of utilities will take place and we expect them to be cautious and not to break the pipelines,” Tongkhar said.
