SHILLONG: On Saturday evening at around 7 pm, the area around Polo Ground – Forest Colony from where vehicles arriving from Guwahati generally ply, was choc-a-bloc with traffic.

The roads are so narrow and vehicles all lined up single file that no one from behind could possibly overtake the car in front without causing an accident.

Yet a Scorpio (No ML 08 D 5121) fitted with a red beacon sounded the siren continuously without any consideration for anyone.

In front of the Scorpio was a 108 ambulance but the driver was decent enough not to use his siren too.

Stranded drivers were irate and shouted expletives at the pilot car on which sat equally insensitive cops.
