SHILLONG: The FKJGP and the Association of Democratic Empowerment (ADE) have urged the West Garo Hills district administration to take necessary steps to provide security for petrol pump attendants and also suggested that the district administration should invite the petrol pump dealers for negotiation.

“The ongoing agitation of the petrol pump workers has created lots of difficulties for the people in Garo Hills. The district administration can try to resolve the problem by providing necessary security to the petrol pump workers so as to regain their confidence and persuade them to call off their agitation,” the two organisations stated in a representation submitted to West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi recently.

They also stated that the authorities should not hesitate in taking strict action if the petrol pumps dealers are reluctant to cooperate with the administration.

While stating that they sympathized with the petrol pump dealers, they stated that the dealers will have to realize that their agitation is of little significance as the identity of the perpetrators of the crime still remains a mystery and their actions are creating inconvenience to the general public who are but only their sympathizers.
