SHILLONG: The Nongkrem Durbar Pyllun has expressed its resentment over the failure of the PHE department to remove the barricade used by the department in constructing a dam at Wah Umiew at Dkong, Nongkrem.

In a press statement issued here on Monday, general secretary of the Nongkrem Durbar Pyllun, W Warkhyllew informed that the construction of the dam has created a lot of problem to the farmers of the nearby villages as the stream is their only sources of water for irrigation.

The Durbar said that it would resort to other means to get the job done if the department fails to remove the barricade by August 8.

It may be noted that the PHE department had promised the villagers of the Nongkrem Pyllun to remove the barricade from Wah Umiew on July 23 at the general meeting held last month with the officials of the department along with the elders of the villagebut no action has been taken in this regard till now.
