The new delimitation of
constituencies has
left some of them completely orphaned. One of the more striking one is 17-Laitumkhrah constituency which besides the entire Laitumkhrah area also includes large chunks of Nongthymmai such as Nongrim Hills, Nongshiliang Pohkseh, Lumiablot etc.
The Nongthymmai part of the 17-Laitumkhrah constituency, particularly Lumiablot has not seen a single road repair scheme in the last four years and some of the roads and footpaths were last repaired during the time of Late PG Marbaniang.
Current MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh is nursing the Laitumkhrah and Malki part of her new constituency.
It is learnt that Charles Pyngrope who was earlier representing Sohryngkham constituency is now set to be the Congress candidate from Nongthymmai, leaving his son David Nongrum to take over the delimited Mawryngkneng constituency.
The question is should MLAs representing one constituency expend all their energies and MLA schemes for another constituency?
