SHILLONG: The State Police on Wednesday arrested two persons in connection with the looting of Rs 42 lakh from two employees of the Central bank of India, Anjalee Branch in the city on Tuesday.

The arrested persons have been identified as Bukul Deka, a casual employee of the bank, and Idris Ali.

Police suspect the possibility of a nexus between the casual employee of the bank and the unidentified miscreants who looted the money.

The incident took place at GS Road in the city at around 10.30 am when two employees of the bank were proceeding towards the UBI Bank in Police Bazar to deposit Rs 42 lakh collected at the bank. The miscreants threw chilli powder on the face of the two bank staff before they decamped with the huge sum of money.
