MPHRC gen sec to attend UN meet

 SHILLONG: The Secretary General of the Meghalaya Peoples Human Rights Council (MPHRC), Dino D.G. Dympep has been invited by the United Nations to attend the month long 20th Session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland.

During the session Dympep will take part in the various debates relating to the human rights scenario in the country apart from participating in interactive dialogues with various UN mandate holders.

The Human Rights Council is an inter-governmental body within the United Nations system.

The Council is made up of 47 United Nations Member States which are elected by the UN General Assembly. The Human Rights Council replaced the former United Nations Commission on Human Rights. Currently India is an active member of the Human Rights Council.
