SHILLONG: The State Election Department is holding an inquiry against Langrin Congress legislator MM Danggo for allegedly violating the election model code of conduct.

It has been accused that Danggo donated chairs to Nongrynniang village dorbar on January 16 against the model code of conduct and a complaint was lodged regarding the same following which the flying squad team of the Election department, led by a magistrate, rushed to the spot. “200 chairs in the village,” official sources said.

Members of the local village Dorbar informed the flying squad team that Danggo had donated these chairs for the religious meeting to be held in the village, official sources said. “We have told the village dorbar not to distribute the chair until the inquiry on the matter is completed,” official sources added.

When asked if the chairs were donated from the MLA Scheme, official sources said that they would not be able to disclose anything at the moment.
