Expenditure monitoring meeting held

TURA: The District Election Officer (DEO), West Garo Hills, on Tuesday held a meeting cum workshop for political representatives and agents at the conference hall of DRDA here.

Expenditure Observer KK Singh appraised the gathering on the mechanism of expenditure monitoring and said the objective is to ensure that the permissible poll expenses should be reflected in true and correct manner in the accounts and should be maintained in the manner as prescribed by the Election Commission.

The DEO informed that many cases have been found when meetings were not held by the candidates even after permission was granted by his office. He said that such actions are very misleading and causes inconvenience to the election machinery. He added that candidates found guilty of such conduct can be booked and expenses will be still accounted.
