Festival
With a view to promote the traditional culture and aesthetics of the region, the South West Khasi Hills District Arts and Culture Society, supported by the Directorate of Arts and Culture will host the IONA festival at Madan Risim, Nongumer village March 22. The gala event will commence with traditional dance to be performed by the Iong Lajong, Sengkhasi Nonglang, Kynhun Biria u Maram including cultural item from the Garo and Hajong.
Free camp
Meghalaya Youth Foundation in collaboration with the Inner Wheel Club (Shillong) and the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences will organize a Free Medical Camp cum Cancer Detection Camp on March 20 at Mawpyrshong Village.
Programme
The Office of the District Sports Officer, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai, in collaboration with the Arcadian adventure Sports Guilds will organize the “Year of the Youth” Programme, Adventure Sports – Rock climbing on April 5 at Shangpung, West Jaintia hills District from 9.00 am onwards.
General meeting
The Meghalaya Veterinary Services Association Apex body Shillong will hold its XVIIIth general body meeting on March 22 at the conference hall of the directorate of Animal Husbandry and veterinary department at Lumdiengjri. AH and Vet Minister Deborah Marak will be present as the chief guest.
Gratitude
The first meeting of the newly elected congress MLAs was held at Congress Bhawan on March 6 under the chairmanship of MPCC president DD Lapang whereby it placed in record its appreciation and gratitude to the people of Meghalaya for voting the congress to power at the same time expressed gratitude to INC president Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and INC vice president Rahul Gandhi for campaigning in Meghalaya.
Vasanta Utsav
Vasanta Utsav will be organized by ‘Bourani’ a socio-cultural organization here in The Shillong Club premises on the eve of Holi Festival on March 26 from 6 pm onwards.
