Traffic route

The Laban Presbyterian Church has informed that heavy vehicles coming to the Presbytery service on April 28 can be parked along the road from Red Cross to Pine Mount School while light vehicles will be parked from Circuit House to Assamese School. The Church also said that all vehicles should ply through Streamlet road to Sylhetipara leading to Maharashtra saloon and to Circuit House. Vehicles will not be allowed to ply through Laban market and from St John School all the way through Lower Lumparing to Red Cross from 8 am to 5 pm.

General meet

Meghalaya Architects Forum will hold its general body meeting at Pinewood hotel from 4 pm on May 2.

A general meeting of the Shillong Cantonment Board Pensioners’ Union will be held on April 28 at 2 pm in the premises of Global Social Welfare Organisation to re-constitute the executive body and to discuss the problems faced by the pensioners.

Blood donation camp

The World Mission Society Church of God conducted its 160th worldwide blood donation camp at NEIGRIHMS on Friday. The event was conducted in the presence of NEIGRIHMS director and the deacon of the church.

Workshop

The state level workshop on School Safety Programme in Meghalaya was held at St Edmund’s School on Friday. Officers from fire, emergency services besides other departments along with 60 students from the disaster management club of St. Edmund’s participated in the workshop.

Pupils meet

It was a nostalgic home coming for the past students of Sacred Heart Girls Higher Secondary School, Mawlai when they gathered together for the Past Pupils Meet organized by the Association of the FMA Past Pupils, Mawlai unit at the school premise on Friday. The get together of the past students was also in preparation for the Platinum Jubilee of the School which will be held on May 9

Section 144

The District Magistrate of West Garo Hills has imposed Section 144 CrPC against wanton wastage of water and pollution of streams. The order has been imposed in the wake of water crisis in Tura and surrounding areas and prohibits unwarranted, unhygienic and illegal practices leading to contamination and drying up of water bodies.

NH-62 Save Mission

The National Highway-62 Save Mission Committee has asked the State Transport Minister to take necessary actions for implementing the Supreme Court order restricting trucks loaded beyond 9 metric tonnes from plying on the highway.
