son case at BSNL’s warehouse situated at Mawlai Mawiong has been handed over to the CID by the district police after completion of the preliminary investigation.
Informing this here on Monday, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, M Kharkrang said the case was handed over to CID soon after the district police completed the preliminary investigation.
The arson case which resulted in a huge loss of over Rs 21 crore was taken over by CID considering the extent of damage.
Meanwhile, Kharkrang also ruled out possibilities of technical snags within the BSNL warehouse being the cause of the fire which reduced the warehouse into ashes.
“That angle of the story was not reported to us and as per the preliminary report, the cause of the fire was not because of some electrical short circuit but the warehouse was set ablaze by KSU volunteers,” Kharkrang said,
In this connection, two persons including a KSU member have been arrested in this connection.
