HILLONG: Home Minister Roshan Warjri introduced the amendment to Meghalaya police Act 2010 on Friday in the Assembly to enable the recruitment of police personnel to the special force.

The Meghalaya Police (Amendment) Bill, 2014 was necessitated to replace an earlier ordinance in this regard promulgated by the Governor.

As per the Meghalaya Police (Amendment) Bill, 2014, due to the prevailing security scenario, it was felt to raise a more professional force to deal with the challenges of insurgency, militancy, communal and ethnic violence and riots.
