SSLC topper wants to join Indian Army

HILLONG: Among the toppers, Sourav Pathak who secured first position in SSLC examination is the only one who wants to become an army officer.

“I want to join the Indian Army as an officer to serve my nation”, said Pathak,who made Ram Krishna Mission School (RKMS) proud.

Regarding his preparations, the topper said that before selection test when classes were going on regularly he studied 4 to 5 hours daily but after the selection test when the classes stopped, he devoted around 10-12 hours a day . “I was thorough with my books and I wrote whatever I read. I prepared a weekly routine where I touched each subject at least twice a week. I took short break in between my studies. Whenever I didn’t feel like studying I watched either T.V. or read story books”, Pathak said.

Pathak said he was very happy but acknowledged that this happiness is short lived. “Right now I am thinking about how to prepare myself for the coming days that is my 11th and 12th standard”, he said .

His message to the student is to study hard and don’t compromise with studies for anything else. “Be determined and devoted towards your goal and give your hundred percent effort to achieve it”, the topper said.

Pathak attributed his success to his parents and the teachers at RKMS as he said that his mother Priya Pathak a qualified staff nurse left her job to look after him and his elder brother Rupangkor Pathak, who is presently pursuing his B.E.

His father Sushil Kumar Pathak is working at Mawmluh Cherra Cements Ltd as the Manager (Quality Control). He had joined R.K.M L/P School Khliehshnong, Sohra in the year 2002 at the age of 4 years in class K.G-A, and subsequently joined R.K.M H/S School, Sohra

“With such a supporting parents and family as well as with the guidance of our dedicated teachers of Ramakrishna Mission and our Principal Swami Aimteshanandaji Maharaj, I hardly faced any problem. Our teachers were so cooperative that we can approach them at anytime with our problem”, he added.
