Appeal for waste free Durga Puja celebrations

SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has directed all Durga Puja organizers in the city to set up notices and place sufficient numbers of waste bins in their respective puja pandals during the celebrations.

The Deputy Commissioner, also the coordinator of the Zero Littering Campaign, has also requested all Durga puja organizers to maintain cleanliness and to ensure that there is no littering of waste during the celebrations.

He also invited apex organizations to initiate cleanliness projects and reward the cleanest Durga Puja celebration site and the likes.

It may be mentioned that 98 schools in Shillong city have come together to start a Zero Littering Campaign. Around 600 students have subscribed to become Zero Littering crusaders.
