Explosives recovered in Silchar
Silchar: A huge quantity of explosives were recovered and 3 arrested in Assam’s Cachar district on Tuesday. Police raided the house of one Mostar Ali Laskar in Tolargram Part 2 on Tuesday and recovered the explosives, SP Rajbir Singh said. 3kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED, a large quantity of gelatin sticks, one detonator, fuse wire and map of a vital bridge were recovered from the house. Police suspects links with Jehadi or Manipur based ultra outfits.(PTI)
Assam Police seizes pump sets
Guwahati: A large number of water pump sets,belonging to the Assam state Agriculture department which were being allegedly illegally sold to a dealer in Odisha, were recovered from a godown, owned by the son of a former Assam Agriculture minister on Tuesday. Police searched the godown at Rukminigaon area of the city and found the pump sets along with a truck bearing Odisha registration number. The proprietor of the firm that owned the godown is the son of a former Agriculture minister who was recently selected for Assam Civil Services,facing allegations of bribing their way into the elite service. ‘No dearth of funds for salary’
Guwahati: Asssm Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday reiterated that the Government employees have been getting regular salaries and would continue getting it in future. There is no dearth of fund in disbursing their salaries, he added. Meanwhile, the Finance Department has stated that the government has done away with the retention system. In fact, Finance Department has completed all modalities to disburse the salaries of all employees irrespective of the nature of job before Durga Puja. (UNI)
