Shutdown of water supply to Shillong from GSWSS

Shillong: The Additional Chief Engineer, PHE, Zone-I, Meghalaya, has informed that a breakdown of the 750 mm diameter Gravity Main of the Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme (GSWSS) has occurred at Kharnongwah village near Mawreng in the early morning hours of Tuesday.
The Additional Chief Engineer has also informed that as a result of the breakdown supply of drinking water to Shillong has to be placed under shutdown to facilitate restoration works.
Though restoration work has commenced immediately after the breakdown, water supply will remain disrupted till around 4 PM of December 10, the official informed.
