Kuki community observes ‘black day’

SHILLONG: Members of the Kuki community in Meghalaya, particularly those residing in and around Shillong, observed Sahnit Ni or the Kuki Black Day at the Kuki Worship Service (KWS) Church under Madanrting Police Station here on Tuesday.
The day is observed globally by the “Kuki Nation” in remembrance and as a mark of respect to the departed souls of over 900 Kuki people including children and women allegedly massacred by the NSCN-IM. On the occasion speaker of the “Kuki Inpi Meghalaya” stressed on the historical background and the significance of the event. A candlelight service to pay homage to the departed souls was also organised.
