Govt allows self-attestation

Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said the system would be implemented in order to make the recruitment process simpler and prompt.
The self declaration will be interim information which a successful candidate can furnish to the appointing authority subject to further submission of the complete police verification.
Sangma, however, asserted that if the information in the self-declaration of the candidate was found to be incorrect, the appointing authority would cancel the appointment letter and the onus of providing correction information lay with the candidate. However, the system would be exempted from the appointment of sensitive posts where detailed police verification was required before the appointment.
When asked why there was a delay in coming up with the system, Sangma said the government had to do a lot of exercise on the system given the challenges of influx and illegal immigration.
