SHILLONG: The State Disaster Response Force acted with alacrity to clear National Highway 6 along with the Public Works and the Forest departments after a landslide at Ryndang Briew in East Khasi Hills on Sunday night.
In a statement issued on Monday, SDRF said a team of 13 personnel led by Inspector Willy Nonglang was pressed into action after debris and uprooted trees blocked the road. Apart from ensuring safety, SDRF also regulated traffic on the highway.
A major portion of the blocked stretch has been cleared.
Meanwhile work for clearing up all the debris is on. However, no one was injured in the incident.
Earlier, East Khasi Hills DC PS Dkhar had monitored the rescue work.
