SHILLONG: UDP working president and West Shillong MLA Paul Lyngdoh has lambasted the state government for wasting a full decade before realising that the power deals inked with private players in 2007 were flawed and were bound to fail.
Lyndoh lamented that the state, which was power surplus till the mid-80s and was selling power to neighbouring states, today resorts to frequent outages and load shedding to tide over electricity crisis.
Dedicating a 250 KV transformer and a three-phase LT line at Lower Mawprem, Lyngdoh hoped that the new dispensation that will assume office in March next year will accord priority to this sector and fully tap its potential.
Members of the local Dorbar and MeECL officials were present.
