TURA: Organisations from Garo Hills including the GSU, FKJGP, AYWO and ADE have closed down a medicine shop in Tura alleging its owner of committing fraud and masquerading as a chartered accountant to promote his business.
According to the organisations, one, Vivek Agarwal of GLR Pharmaceuticals along with his family members (mother and brother) cheated a Garo business partner by depriving him of his share from the business and eventually kicking him out.
“We have come to know that he (Garo partner) was kicked out of business through harassment, underhand dealing by resorting to staged vandalism and robbery to misinform him about the earnings and performance of the business,” the organisations said.
The organisations alleged that books of accounts maintained were manipulated adding, there was even an instance when the victim demanded to inspect the book of accounts, a robbery was staged and the computer and books maintained by the firm were ‘supposedly stolen’.
“It has also been alleged that the earnings from the firm were kept secret as some of the money was reportedly deposited in other bank accounts instead of the bank account used by the firm,” they claimed.
With regard to the impersonation claim, the organisations said that Agarwal has been impersonating as a qualified chartered accountant even to government officials and senior citizens to seal a business opportunity. “This is a serious offence and may have adversely affected some people,” they added.
A complaint in this regard has also been made to the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the GHADC where they sought the cancellation of the owner’s TNT.
“The TNT given to Agarwal must be cancelled. And as we believe that his mother and brother live in the same house and are involved in the same business, we believe that it is against the rules to give TNT to all three people. Their TNTs must be cancelled,” warned the organizations in their complaint.
