Nongmynsong celebrates golden jubilee

SHILLONG: Nongmynsong Dorbar celebrated its golden jubilee on Friday in a befitting manner.
Nongmynsong was carved out of Pynthorbah village in 1968 and from a small hamlet Nongmynsong has now grown to be one of the fastest developing areas earning the tag of ‘gateway to New Shillong Township’.
The locality has a population of over 20,000 inhabitants with over four thousand plus households.
Speaking on the occasion, local MLA AL Hek stated that the Health department is keen to set up urban health and awareness centre at Nongmynsong besides setting up sports facilities.
The Rangbah Shnong, B Khonglah, expressed his happiness over the fact that the village has been successful in remaining peaceful.
Syiem of Hima Mylliem was the chief guest while local MLA AL Hek and MDC Neil Antonio War were the guests of honour.
Various cultural programmes were organised to mark the golden jubilee celebrations. A large gathering attended the function at the Community Hall, Nongmynsong.
