SHILLONG: Resident doctors in NEIGRIHMS’s Cardiology Department have decided to stop all OPD services and academic activities from October 28 till their grievances are addressed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
In a letter to the NEIGRIHMS director, the doctors said, “It appears that Dr Devinder Mohan Thappa, Director of NEIGRIHMS, has some vested interest in jeopardising the super-speciality courses at NEIGRIHMS and to seek advantages from sources best known to you. Since the time Dr Thappa has joined NEIGRIHMS, he has mounted the problems to such an extent that the students have harmed and discouraged to continue,” the letter said
The residents while expressing their anguish said they will peacefully protest against “the dictatorship and autocratic administration of yours”.
The resident doctors also asked the director to forward the intimation letter to the Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, to examine the matter and help the institute redeem its prestige.
