‘Govt unresponsive to demands for upgrading Iew Nongstoin’

NONGSTOIN: The Office of the Syiem Hima Nongstoin along with the Dorbar conducted a cleaning drive at Iew Nongstoin on Friday.
The programme was also attended by Nongstoin MLA Macmillan Byrsat, Syiem of Hima Nongstoin EP Syiem, Secretary Dorbar Hima Nongstoin, AL Syiem, Mahajon Iew Nongstoin and shopkeepers among others.
After the cleaning drive, a short meeting was also held at Iew Nongstoin where AL Syiem highlighted the objective of the programme as part of Clean India Mission.
He also expressed the aim of the Hima Nongstoin in improving Nongstoin market and said several schemes have been applied to few government departments like the Urban Affairs Department and Industry Department, but till today, they have not received any reply.
EP Syiem also urged the public to take responsibility since the market is their source of livelihood adding that they should not allow any anti-social elements to thrive in Iew Nongstoin.
The Nongstoin MLA, who is also the Lyngdoh of Hima Nongstoin, said several schemes proposed by the office of the Hima were kept pending as there is no one to monitor it and said he will track of it.
He also said he has tried hard to fight and seek development activities for Nongstoin like road connection, drinking water supply, electricity during his 6 months as an MLA. ‘As the Chairman of Meghalaya State law Commission, I will aspired to fulfill the land tenure system, mining policy, sport policy, industrial policy and other policy in the state,’ he adds.
