Kathakali performance in city

SHILLONG: Renowned Kathakali exponent Kottakkal Nandakumaran Nair will be on a two-day performance tour to the city from October 7.
The programme is an initiative of Sree Narayana Guru Cultural Centre (SNGCC), a socio-cultural organization, in the city.
Nair will perform “Madura Dahanam” at the auditorium of old guesthouse at NEHU at 5pm on Sunday. This is an immortal tale from Silappadikaram (The Tale of An Anklet), one of the five great epics of Tamil literature.
On Monday evening, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Shillong in association with SNGCC will present “Poothanamoksham” at SNGCC in Jingkieng.
Killing of the demoness Putana by baby Krishna and the liberation of her spirit from all sins is a popular story and widely retold by generations of common people across India.
