SHILLONG: The much awaited Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) Phase-IV is likely to be launched before Christmas or by first week of January next year.
Informing this here on Monday, Health Minister AL Hek said besides the ground work, the process of technical and financial bidding is also complete and work order is left to be issued.
“On opening the financial bid, Reliance General Insurance Company Limited is the lowest bidder. The company has quoted Rs 1,630 (premium) per household,” said Hek and added that there were seven participants in the bidding process of whom one was disqualified.
The state health scheme is merged with the central Ayushman Bharat, which will be implemented as per the MHIS model in Meghalaya.
The registration for Ayushman Bharat is fixed at Rs 50 per household while the state government has decided to fix it at Rs 100 per household.
Hek pointed out that smart cards issued to beneficiaries are ensured not to get worn out.
