Defaulter absconding
Mukesh Kumar Das, Branch Manager, Bank of India, Shillong Branch lodged a complaint that Amit Paul of Jail Road, took Kisan Vikas Patra loan amounting Rs 4,85,000 from sub-post office, Jowai, West Jaintia Hills in 2017. However, he has failed to repay the loan and is reportedly absconding.
Misrepresentation
Gerald S Duia lodged a complaint that HM Consulting Pvt Ltd is illegally using his name and portraying him as their employee and that the firm has falsified his signature in an appointment letter which he never sent to Meghalaya State Skill Development Society.
Threat calls
Cherry Lyngdoh Nongrang has lodged a complaint that she has been receiving threatening, blackmailing calls and text messages from her former boyfriend Deepak Singh of Safdarjung in South Delhi.
Silbinus Sukhlain lodged a complaint that on March 31 around 2:17 pm, he received an anonymous phone call wherein the caller abused him and also threatened him with dire consequences.
Accidents
A Maruti Alto car (AS-01Y-5887) met with an accident at Katholbari, South West Garo Hills, on Monday morning which led to Pormananda Koch (35) and his wife were sustaining injuries. They were shifted to Civil Hospital in Ampati, but were later referred to CH in Tura.
A scooty (ML-05K-3949) ridden by Foeingstar Marbaniang met with an accident at Shillong by-pass at Pyllun village, Ri Bhoi, on March 31 in which the rider and pillion rider sustained injuries.
A person was injured when a Maruti Swift car (AS-01BA-4317) he was travelling in went off the road at Umsning at around 1:30 pm on March 31. The injured was shifted to CHC Umsning for treatment.
A Hyundai Eon car (ML-10A-8016) driven by Fedric Kharshiing fell into a gorge at Umtrew, Ri Bhoi, at around 2:30 pm on March 31, leading to the person sustaining injuries.
Coal truck seized
Police seized a truck (AS-11KC-2194) carrying coal near Cement Bazar, East Jaintia Hills, on March 31 after DC, East Jaintia Hills, informed the police about it. The truck was transporting coal in violation of NGT order.
Assaults
On March 29 around 3:15 pm, Ananta Chanda assaulted Swapna Thakur at Keating Road. The bystanders caught the accused, but he managed to escape with the help of Arun Barua.
Shilpi Chanda lodged a complaint that on March 29 around 3:30 pm, Swapna and her son Shashi Thakur went to her husband’s workplace at Style & Megha Impressions at Keating Road, assaulted him and caused injuries.
Cheated
Sunil Kumar lodged a complaint that on March 25, he booked a flight ticket (Guwahati-Amritsar) from Indigo Airlines for April 26. However, due to some unavoidable circumstances he wanted to change the date of travel and contacted the Indigo customer care. He was asked to provide the 16-digit ATM number for making the necessary changes in the ticket. Later, he received an SMS informing that Rs 94,000 was fraudulently debited from his account.
Thief apprehended
Mangkarap Rymdem lodged a complaint that on March 22 around 2 am, unknown miscreants broke into his shop at Mawlai Umjaiur Block-V, Shillong, and stole a router machine. On March 29, Aiborlang Laitmon was apprehended while he was attempting to sell the stolen article.
Lumlang Khongsni lodged a complaint that on March 28, Aibor Laitmon stole articles worth around Rs 22,000 from his shop at Kynton Massar, Mawlai. On March 29, the complainant managed to apprehend the accused while he was attempting to sell the stolen articles.
