SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Matsiewdor War Nongbri has launched the Swachh Survekshan Grameen (SSG) 2019 in the district on Thursday.
The campaign is conducted as part of the nationwide survey initiated by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.
The programme aims to undertake rankings of states and districts in the country on the basis of key quantitative and qualitative Swachh Bharat Mission – Grameen parameters, besides engaging rural community in improving sanitation through an IEC campaign.
Under the programme, feedback and recommendations from the public will be solicited to improve the campaign. The programme will also ascertain ‘Swachhata’ (cleanliness) on ground through direct observation of sanitation status in public places.
Speaking on the occasion, Nongbri said that the citizens of the state should be made aware about the app and it is the duty of the district administration to ensure that villagers give their feedback.
People should be extensively made aware about the objectives of the programme, especially in rural areas, she added.
It may be mentioned that rankings in the SSG programme will be assessed on three parameters that include Direct Observation Information (30 per cent), Service Level Progress of Implementation of SBM (35 per cent) and Citizen’s feedback (35 per cent).
The field survey under the programme has been initiated and it will continue till September 25, while the submission of self assessment reports will be done on September 25. The SSG 2019 national awards will be declared on October 2.
