Conrad urged to ensure immediate test of high-risk contacts of COVID-19 patients

SHILLONG: The Sur U Paidbah Ka Bri U Hynniewtrep (Voice of the Hynniewtrep People) has urged  the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to facilitate immediate test high risk/primary contacts of COVID-19 positive persons.

The organisation said that it had  observed that the concern authority was not carrying out immediate tests of high Risk/Primary contact person(s).

“Surprisingly, the responsibility for monitoring self-isolation has been given to the Dorbar Shnong only”, the group said.

Referring to the Dorbar Shnong of Them Mawbah, Demsieniong Lower Mawprem recently, the organisation said, “In contrary, while enquiring, we were informed by the concern authority that “usually immediate testing is not carried out for such people since the result could be vary after four to five days”.

The organisation said that if the high risk contacts were found to be positive then subsequent tracing to the contacted persons should be carried out for preventing from further spread of the virus and if tested negative, the person(s) may be kept in isolation for retest after three to four days.

The organisation said that if required third test may be conducted after another three to four days for containing and to prevent from community transmission.
