The Shillong Times has resurrected today, four days after it had been pulverised by COVID. It has been four days of anguish for us not to be able to serve our readers. We wish to extend our sincere gratitude for your unstinted support, patience and understanding as we grapple with this unprecedented situation.
However, our real battle has just begun. Half of our staff members have been quarantined and many who are permitted to join work are barred by the local Dorbars from stepping out of their respective localities (Shnongs).
Practically, it is close to impossible to resume the show and get back to normal with a skeletal staff as our machine operators, system hands, drivers and circulation staff are completing their home quarantine.
Undaunted yet deeply committed to serving our loyal readers with news that matters, despite this challenging situation, we have decided to bring out a truncated edition from today.
We trust our readers will bear with us.
With gratitude,
ST family
