Nomination
The Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi, in an order, informed that the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, has invited nomination for the “National Water Awards” (NWA), 2020-21. These awards are intended to encourage individuals and organisations for adopting innovative practices to augment groundwater and rainwater harvesting, recycling of water and other steps to ensure creation of a better water resources management in the country. The DC has requested all interested villages, civil society organisation, urban local bodies, individuals and interested corporates in the district to file nomination for the awards appropriate to their categories. Application forms may be submitted to the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), the DC said, adding that more information is available at www.mowr.gov.in or www.cgwb.gov.in. The last date for entries is on February 10.

Exhibition
The North East Postal Circle will organise the first Circle Level Online Philatelic Exhibition from January 28 to 31. The inaugural function will be held in the Conference Hall, Office of the Chief Postmaster General, North-East Circle, Shillong, opposite Governor House, at 11 am on January 28.

The Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi, in an order on Friday, has ordered the closure of all IMFL retail shops, bars in hotels, bonded warehouses, bottling units, country-made spirit shops, outstills, breweries, canteens etc, located in Ri Bhoi on January 26 on account of Republic Day.
