TURA, Sep 19: Residents of Gasuapara area in South Garo Hills under the umbrella of the Gasuapara Area Citizens Forum (GACF) recently submitted a memorandum to the Branch Manager of the Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank in Tura and submitted a memorandum seeking the setting up of the bank’s branch in the area.
During their meeting with the official in Tura, the members informed that there were over 186 village employment councils and over 140 farmers’ societies as well as eco-tourism societies in the area all of which could benefit from the branch. They also pointed to the existence of the Gasuapara International Coal Export centre in the area as well as the presence of government employees from outside who could avail of the services provided by the branch if it was set up.
Informing further that a two storey building with more than 6 rooms was already available for use, the members urged the official to look into the speedy setting up of the facility.
