Prog dedicated to entrepreneurs
SHILLONG, Sep 28: As part of the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Startup India and PRIME Entrepreneurship Meghalaya organised a two-hour event dedicated to the state entrepreneurs. According to a statement, the programme was attended by Chairman of Meghalaya Farmer’s Commission, KN Kumar, as the chief guest, who spoke about various schemes available for entrepreneurs in Meghalaya and North East at large. “Some of the successful entrepreneurs of the state shared their success stories, focusing on their journey, challenges, and how they overcame it. The need to tap the potential of agriculture in North East India was also discussed,” the statement said. Others who spoke during the programme include Director of MBMA, Aiban Swer, Manager, Invest India-Startup India, Gautam Anand, Head HR & Products, Zizira Explorers, Jubanylla Bang, CEO of AVENUES, Mark Laitflang Stone, Director of Marketing & Development, MLCU, Shillong, Dr. Julian Oscar Dhar, among others.
Hindi Fortnight celebration ends
SHILLONG, Sep 28: The Regional Training Institute, office of the Accountant General (Audit) Meghalaya, and office of the Accountant General (A&E), Meghalaya, organised a closing ceremony of the Hindi Fortnight celebration at the Civil Accounts Sports and Cultural Club, A&E office here, on Monday. Cash awards were given along with certificates to the first (Rs 1,000), second (Rs 700) and third prize (Rs 500) winners in various competitions including Antyakshari competition, translation competition, Hindi essay writing and dictation competitions. Remaining participants of the aforementioned competitions were also given cash award of Rs 200. Quiz and extempore speech competitions were also organised on the occasion with cash awards given away to the winners.
Project on fish feed mills launched
NONGSTOIN, Sep 28: A non-governmental organisation from West Khasi Hills, Kyrsiew Pynroi Agro farming Development Organisation, launched its first project on fish feed mills, claimed to be the first of its kind in the district. The project was launch by Nongstoin MLA, Macmillan Byrsat, at Mawrok Porsohsat on Monday, in the presence of West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner T Lyngwa and West Khasi Hills Superintendent of Fisheries, O Khongngain. The fish feed mill project is a centrally sponsored scheme. Lauding the efforts, the DC said that import of fish from Andhra Pradesh has seen a decline of late as people have started to practise fish farming.
KVK holds awareness programme
SHILLONG, Sep 28: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), ICAR, West Garo Hills, on Tuesday organised one-day online awareness-cum-farmers-scientist programme on Climate Resilient Agriculture at its campus. According to a statement, the programme was attended by 116 farmers from nine villages along with KVK staff. Rabi maize and winter vegetables seeds were also distributed among the participants during the programme.
