TURA, Jan 17: The former President of the School Managing Committee of Haripur Namabilla Higher Secondary School in West Garo Hills has moved the Director of School Education and Literacy in Shillong, to scrap the interview in connection with the recruitment of teachers held on January 7, claiming that the recruitment is not as per the required process and guidelines.
Former SMC President Jamial Hoque in his complaint to the DSEL claimed that the said interview for recruitment of two assistant teachers is illegal and lacked proper procedure as the advertisement for the recruitment was made by the school Principal alone. Hoque claimed that during his tenure as the SMC President, it was already decided by the members that the advertisement for recruitment to the said vacant posts would be done through proper channels, the resolution for which was submitted to the DSEO, which however is so far pending approval.
“Why has the resolution been kept pending without approval for so long if not for illegal appointments? This clearly shows that there is self interest in making the advertisement, otherwise, there is no reason not to approve the resolution,” Hoque alleged.
Hoque further informed that the DSEO had recently called a meeting with the SMC members with regard to the formation of a fresh SMC of the school and questioned why the advertisement had been made by the Principal before the formation of the SMC. Hoque also claimed that earlier the vacancies were one each for Science and Arts teachers and expressed surprise that the vacancies in the recent advertisement was for two Science teachers.
Asserting that there was something fishy about the whole recruitment process, Hoque has urged the DSEL to immediately cancel the interview held recently and to re-advertise for recruitment to the two vacant posts after the formation of the SMC.
