SHILLONG, Jan 28: Governor Satya Pal Malik on Friday released two books on poetry authored by Dr Jean S Dkhar and Alfidarie Kharsyntiew, during a function held at Raj Bhavan, here.
Maa ke Anmol Ratn, the book by Dr Jean, is a Khasi-to-Hindi translation of poems published by Prof Streamlet Dkhar in the books: Na Ki Sawkun Ka Mariang, Na Khriang Ka Dohnud, Ki Umjer Rupa, and Clouds of Emotions.
On the other hand, Ki Matti Na La Rympei, the book authored by Alfidarie Kharsyntiew, is a collection of folk poems based on Ka Kitab Jingphawar and Ka Jingiathuhkhana Puriskam of Rabon Singh Kharsuka, and Na Lyngwiar Dpei I Mei and Na Thwei Pyrkhat u Longshuwa by Prof Streamlet Dkhar.
The programme was attended by Vice Chancellor of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Prof Prabha Shankar Shukla, Prof Streamlet Dkhar, among others.
While the Governor congratulated Jean and Alfidarie for coming up with the two books, the NEHU VC described them as the “two special daughters of Prof Streamlet Dkhar”.
The VC also mentioned that translation from one language into another is a requirement in the New Education Policy.
