Cultural evening in city
SHILLONG, June 27: A cultural evening was on Sunday organised by Geetali, a Shillong-based socio-cultural organisation, at U Soso Tham auditorium. According to a statement, 2017 Sa Re Ga Ma Pa winner Jimut Roy and famous playback singer Anwesha Dutta Gupta performed during the programme.

Skill mela gets under way
SHILLONG, June 27: A two-day skill mela, organised by the Meghalaya State Skills Development Society (MSSDS) under Labour Department, got under way in Jowai on Monday. The inaugural programme was attended by local MLA Wailadmiki Shylla, MSSDS Executive Director Shivansh Awasthi, among others. The MLA, in his inaugural speech, informed the gathering that skill development interventions play a crucial role in arming the youth with the required skill sets for achieving self-dependency and a growing career. Awasthi, on the other hand, informed that the skill mela, ever since its launch, has tasked 34 local training providers to train 2,595 youths across the state.

Decomposed body found
NONGPOH, June 27: A male decomposed body was found in an abandoned stone quarry at 9 Mile Baridua, Ri-Bhoi district on Monday. On receiving inputs, a police team from Khanapara Police Station rushed to the spot and conducted inquest and other legal formalities. However, due to the decomposed state of the body, the police could neither identify the deceased no ascertain the cause of death. Later, the body was brought to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for post-mortem. Police have, meanwhile, registered a case in this regard.
