Candidature
The West Shillong Block Congress Committee on Monday unanimously recommended Bethleen Dkhar as the candidate for the upcoming Assembly elections. According to a statement, Bethleen was a faculty member in the English Department of Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore, as well as in ICFAI University, Meghalaya. “She is the great immediate grand-daughter of U Soso Tham and the daughter of former Chairperson Meghalaya Public Service Commission, Alvareen D Dkhar,” the statement said.
Natl Voters’ Day
The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Meghalaya, will celebrate the National Voters’ Day 2023 on Wednesday during a state-level function. According to a statement the programme, which will be attended by Chief Secretary DP Wahlang as the chief guest, will commence with a 10-km ‘Run for Sure-Democracy Run’, followed by another 5-km run and a one-km wheelchair race.
Training
The Additional District Magistrate in charge of Polling Personnel Cell, West Garo Hills, has informed that a special training will be conducted for poll personnel from 11 am on January 27 at DRDA Hall for those who have missed the training held earlier on January 18, 19, 20 and 23.
