WJH court convicts man of raping 15-yr-old

SHILLONG, Feb 20: The court of Special Judge (POCSO) West Jaintia Hills has convicted one Treda Sungoh of raping a girl aged 15 years in August 2021. The court has sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 10,000 for an offence punishable U/S 6 of the POCSO Act, and a year of simple imprisonment for an offence punishable U/S 506 IPC. Both sentences will run concurrently.
An FIR was registered on August 23, 2021. After investigation, Investigating Officer, I Kharpran, filed a charge-sheet in the case.
