In view of the ongoing semester examinations, the Tura Government College Students’ Union on Friday sought the reduction of the load-shedding hours. In its letter to Power Minister AT Mondal, the union said that such long hours of power cuts will have a detrimental impact on the students. “Having more than 10-15 hours of load-shedding is unbearable, especially during the summer, not only for students but for the general public,” the union said.

The ACHIK Krima Council for South Garo Hills was recently constituted and subsequently approved by its parent body in Tura. The council has elected Changbath R Marak as general secretary, Crybirth M Sangma as vice president, Changte Arengh as assistant general secretary, Rakrak N Marak as organising secretary, besides other executive members.
