SHILLONG, Aug 29: Following the controversy over the allotment of the ground floor of the Meghalaya House at Kolkata for business purposes to Rocky Dhar, his brother and Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Tuesday defended the former saying he was the highest bidder.
The government’s decision to let out the ground floor of the commercial complex has drawn flak from the VPP.
“The highest bidder was given the tender. It is not because Rocky is my brother that the tender was awarded to him. If the government opens a tender, everyone has the right to bid for the same,” Sniawbhalang said.
He also said that the ground floor of the Meghalaya House was lying unused for several years.
