Nongstoin College honours students on graduation day

NONGSTOIN, Sep 25: More than 409 students of Nongstoin College, rank holders in the Degree examinations from NEHU and faculty members who have completed their PhD were felicitated as the institute celebrated its graduation day, here on Monday.
Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma honoured the students in the presence of H M Shangpliang, Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya, Macmillan Byrsat, ex MLA and president of the governing body of the college.
Cash along with memento was presented to four rank holders — Ibajanai Lyngdoh for securing 4th position in Zoology, Kohphilan Lyngkhoi who secured 6th position in Zoology, Pynshaitbor Thongni for securing 10th position in Chemistry and Pynishisha Wanniang who secured 10th position in Political Science.
The college also acknowledged the achievements of the faculty members including Dr. Kyntiewhunlang Lyngkhoi, Dr. Skhemborlin Wahlang and Dr. Rishababiang Lyngdoh Nonglait who successfully completed their PhD.
Mementoes were also presented to the founding members of the sponsoring body of the college for their contribution.
During the day’s celebration, while appreciating the students of the college for their performance, principal Dr. I Mawthoh informed that in the past three years the college came out with 100 per cent results in the Science and Commerce stream and 96 per cent in Arts stream.
While speaking on the occasion, Education Minister R A Sangma promised that the government and he as minister would continue to hold the responsibility of supporting the college and providing whatever assistance is needed and will take the journey together.
He urged the faculty and students to stand on their own feet with the best talent and quality that they had.
Sangma believes that the college and the two new buildings would certainly be an asset for the college and the state as a whole.
