One convicted for sexual assault of minor in WKH

NONGSTOIN, Oct 11: The Court of the Special Judge (POCSO), Nongstoin, has convicted one Himborlin Puwein of sexually assaulting a minor girl, according to a statement issued here.
The court sentenced him to 20 years of Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs 50,000 for the offence punishable under Section 6 of the POCSO Act and for another offence punishable under Section 506 Part-II IPC, which entails a year of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1,000. Both the served sentences are to run concurrently, the court said.
According to the Superintendent of Police of West Khasi Hills, an FIR was earlier received alleging that Himborlin Puwein had sexually assaulted a minor girl.
