TURA, Feb 11: Several Garo organisations on Sunday dispatched a complaint to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma alleging non-supply of electricity to several villages under Tikrikilla in West Garo Hills despite metre boxes having been installed for the past 4 years and power bills being received in each household every month.
The organization including the AAPE, Civil Society A’chik Welfare Organization (CSAWO) and the Constitutional Rights’ Forum (CRF) submitted the complaint  where they claimed that villages like Dabongjora, Dabanggre, Bolsaldamgre, Daigre and Diganpara (Mewalkam) under Tikrikilla block were being issued power bills despite electricity not reaching the villages.
The organization added that while the few households which have electricity connections at Dabangjora village are receiving huge amounts in bills, the bill collection is done only annually at Dabanggre village which poses problems to consumers as it comes around to lakhs. Meanwhile, villages like Bolsaldamgre, Daigre and Dinganpara are completely without power despite the necessary set up beginning four years back.
Stating that the situation is posing grave difficulties to the people of the affected villages especially the students during their studies, the organizations urged the government as well as the concerned department to look into the matter.
A copy of the complaint has also been given to Tura MP Agatha Sangma, Power Minister A T Mondal, local MLA Jimmy D Sangma, Raksamgre MLA Limison D Sangma, the district Deputy commissioner and officials of the concerned department.
