BSF troops foil smuggling bid, nab Indian nationals

SHILLONG, Oct 19: BSF Meghalaya personnel have apprehended two Indian nationals near the Indo-Bangladesh border in East Khasi Hills, and confiscated 40 boxes of apple consignments, which were meant to be smuggled into the neighbouring country.
According to a statement here, the BSF personnel, acting on a tip-off, intercepted two vehicles laden with the quantity of apple consignments on Friday on Dawki-Lynkhat road in Pyrdwah bordering area.
“Upon questioning, the drivers failed to justify carriage of the consignment besides failing to produce any valid documents pertaining to the consignment,” the statement said.
The BSF troops subsequently apprehended the duo along with the vehicle and consignments, and handed over the same to Pynursla Customs Office.
